On the queens birthday weekend, in June this year (2005), the Q.E.B.F. held their Major event Country v City Championships.
There were 36 teams taking part in the event. Pool players came from as far away as Mackay and Rockhampton to the North and Toowoomba and Darling Downs to the west, along with Brisbane’s three associations, Ipswitch, Gympie and the Gold Coast.
The Championships are run over three days and it has 180 players involved in the tournament.
The Gold Coast Eight Ball Association hosted the event on behalf of the Q.E.B.F. and we extend our many thanks to the hard work put in by their members and committee.

Congrats to the 2009 City Country Womens Champions: Brisbane Districts 8 v City 8 Ball 7
The Brisbane team finished equal second after the round robin and had to played the the Gold Coast City womens team in the semi finals. This was only the second time Gold Coast City had entered a womens team. The grand final was a great match up of state player verse state player. City 8 Ball have won the womens event 7 times from the last eleven, so it was a big effort to defeat a well seasoned City team. Well done to all the players from Brisbane Districts. (Kerri Collins, Nicole Fielding, BJ Borowicz, Mel Gillard, Kerry Spengler and Tracey Wessling.)
Congrats to the 2009 City Country B Grade Player of the Carnival: Lauren Jelly of City 8 Ball and Kerri Collins from Brisbane Districts who both had 23 wins from 27 frames.
The Presidents encouragement award goes to: Jessica Woods from the Gold Coast City Team who at 15 years of age shoot 59.25% 16 wins from 27 frames.
