2020 Queensland Eight Ball Junior Tournament Rules: (version 01/08/2020)

1.1 Junior Championships:

  • Association: Usually held each month at venues decided by the Association Committee.
  • Zone: Usually held during June/July School Holidays at a venue decided by the Zone Committee
  • State: Usually held during September/October School Holidays at a venue decided by the State Committee.
  • National: Usually held during January/March School Holidays at a venue decided by the National Committee.
  • World: Usually held during June/July each year at a venue decided by the World Committee.

1.2 Age Qualification:

  • Tournaments are conducted in four age groups.
  • A) Under 12 years of age as of 31st December (event year).
  • B) Under 15 years of age as of 31st December (event year) (Over 12 and Under 15).
  • C) Under 18 years of age as of 31st December (event year) (Over 15 and Under 18).
  • D) Girls Under 18 years of age as of 31st December (event year) (Over 13 and Under 18).
  • This ensures that each Junior competing at the Queensland Junior Eight Ball Championships (this year) is eligible to compete in the Australian Junior Eight Ball Championships (next year)
  • AEBF By-Laws 35.2.2 Player’s Age Groups will be determined by their age as at the 1st January of that year. The player’s age at that time must be less than, or equal to, the Age Group in which they are to compete.
  • WEPF: Article 22. Junior Events General. Junior players must be under 18 on the 31st December in the year preceding the World Championships.

1.3 Format:

  • Usually a round-robin (or multiple round robins, depending on entries) for each age group.
    If the state team has 2 under 12 players, then the Final is based on the top 2 players from the round-robin.
    If the state team has 3 under 15 players, then the Finals is based on the top 3 players from the round-robin.
    If the state team has 3 under 18 players, then the Finals is based on the top 3 players from the round-robin.
    If the state team has 2 under 18 girls, then the Final is based on the top 2 players from the round-robin.

1.4 Awards:

  • State Winners and Runners-up will receive a trophy recognizing their achievement.

1.5 Queensland State Junior Team:

  • *Under 12’s Champion and Runner-up may be offered a position in the State Junior team to compete at the Australian Eight Ball Junior Championships.
  • *Under 15’s Champion, Runner Up and 3rd place may be offered a position in the State Junior team to compete at the Australian Eight Ball Junior Championships.
  • *Under 18’s Champion, Runner Up and 3rd place may be offered a position in the State Junior Team to compete at the Australian Eight Ball Junior Championships.
  • *Under 18’s Girls Champion and Runner-up may be offered a position in the State Junior Team to compete at the Australian Eight Ball Junior Championships.
  • *subject to AEBF/QEBF by-laws and tournament rules.

1.6 Playing Rules:

  • World Eight Ball Pool Rules as sanctioned by the AEBF.

1.7 State Team:

  • Consists of two under 12, three under 15, three under 18, two under 18 Girl and two officials (one team manager and one umpire)

1.8 Payment:

  • State Team players are required to pay a $200.00 Non-Refundable Deposit within 14 days of selection in the State Junior Team.
  • State Team players are required to be fully paid for before competing.

1.9 Queensland Junior Regional Zones are:

  • South East Queensland
  • Central Queensland
  • North Queensland
  • Western Queensland
