Venue 1: Hervey Bay: The Sportsmans Bar

The Mens Team play-off was held on Saturday at the Sportsmens Club and Kondari Hotel (6 Tables). Twenty Eight men played a single frame round robin event.To qualify each player need to play 16 frames, with the final 8 players playin a total of 20 frames. Play began at 10AM and was completed around 6PM.

The Womens Team play-off was held on Saturday at the Bayswater Hotel (2 Tables). Twelve women played a single frame round robin event.To qualify each player need to play 11 frames. Play began at 10AM and was completed around 4PM.

The Mens Singles Best of 7 frames (semi and finals 9) was held on Sunday at the Sportsmens Club and Kondari Hotel (6 Tables). Sixteen men played a single knockout competition. The Final was won by Rhys Dale who narrowly defeated Darren Halter.

The Womens Singles Best of 7 frames (semi and finals 9) was held on Sunday at the Bayswater Hotel. Twelve women played a single knockout competition. The Final was won by Bonnie Campbell who defeated Sandie Wright.

The masters team play-off was held on Sunday at the Sportsmens Club. Twelve over 50 years of age players played a single frame round robin. Best over was Jack Lewis, John B, Ian W, Jon C.

6.MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE – DUTIES
6.1 President

Provide effective leadership of the Federation and ensure Management committee and Federation initiatives are consistently applied only in the best interests of the sport of Eightball
Ensure the operations of the Federation are conducted in a proper, professional and ethical manner in accordance with sound business principles and best practice.
Also, ensure that Federation business in conducted in accordance with the Constitution, Regulations and Federation policy generally.
Chair all meeting of the Management committee and General Council.
Represent the Federation in public.
Report regularly to Members on the operations and initiatives of the Federation; and
Liaise with Members and other organizations on behalf of the Federation.

QLD Office of Fair Trading (OFT).

The president usually chairs the management committee and will also play a major role in the incorporated association’s meetings. Under the model rules, the president is required to chair all meetings he/she attends. If the president cannot attend a meeting for any given reason, another member of the management committee can be nominated as chair.

2011 SEQ Open March Ranking

A great roll out for the first open ranking event for the year, no surprice to see Dane Beeton (the current QLD Singles Champion) at the top of the stats. Dane was awesome in Adelaide during the Australian Eight Ball Championships (Oct 2010), if you need a benchmark for your ‘A’ game it is best to start chasing this man!

REALLY I have been watching match play at the rankers since the round robin format was introduced in 2004. It appears to be ‘do what ever you can to win that match point’ then you go to the nationals and that ‘ranker match play’ is out the door. A total different game. Players need to step up and bring it on, clear the table, break that ball out and finish it. How many master breaks/ 8 ball clearances did you do on the week-end!

Well participated by most of the SEQ associations as well which is ggod to see

Aslo good to see the junior players at the ranker, Dayne, Jared, Vijay, Sam and Jayme. Dayne is off to England with the Aussie under 18 Team, Jared was to travel, but due to uni commitments had to withdraw. Vijay, Sam and Jayme will most likley fill the QLD under 18 teams spots later this year and attend the Junior Nationals in Canberra. I encourage all players to assist these youg fellows as much as possible.

I see Nicole seeking in some solid pratice for the Aussie Ladies Team that will be traveling to England in June/July this year… good stuff
