2009 SEQ City v Country – Womens Champions

Congrats to the 2009 City Country Womens Champions: Brisbane Districts 8 v City 8 Ball 7

 

The Brisbane team finished equal second after the round robin and had to played the the Gold Coast City womens team in the semi finals. This was only the second time Gold Coast City had entered a womens team. The grand final was a great match up of state player verse state player. City 8 Ball have won the womens event 7 times from the last eleven, so it was a big effort to defeat a well seasoned City team. Well done to all the players from Brisbane Districts. (Kerri Collins, Nicole Fielding, BJ Borowicz, Mel Gillard, Kerry Spengler and Tracey Wessling.)

Congrats to the 2009 City Country B Grade Player of the Carnival:  Lauren Jelly of City 8 Ball and Kerri Collins from Brisbane Districts who both had 23 wins from 27 frames.

The Presidents encouragement award goes to: Jessica Woods from the Gold Coast City Team who at 15 years of age shoot 59.25% 16 wins from 27 frames.

2009 SEQ City v Country – Results

Congrats to the 2009 City Country A Grade Champions: Gold Coast 10 defeating City 8 Ball 5

 

The Gold Coast Team finished second after the round robin and had to play a strong Brisbane team in the semi finals. The Gold Coast had John Wheeler and Brent Read who are both traveling to England in a few weeks to play in the Australian Team at Blackpool, London. Well done to all the players from Gold Coast. (Brent Read, Joe Seovic, Wayne Randall, Geoff Atkinson, Jason Casey, John Wheeler, Dave Wass and Mick Green.)

Congrats to the 2009 City Country B Grade Player of the Carnival:  Brent Read from Gold Coast 19 wins from 24 frames.

The Presidents encouragement award goes to: Travis Martin from the City 8 Ball Team who holds the highest percentage 87.5% 7 wins from 8 frames.

The City Team finished second after the round robin and had to play last year champions, the Gold Coast in the semi finals. The grand final saw a well disciplined City team take every advantage of any mistakes made by Norths. Well done to all the players from City. (Tristan Claridge, Bennon Anderson , James Haining, Christos Christodoulou, Sean Field, Aliesha Mancktelow, Mike Martin and Steve Dair.)

Congrats to the 2009 City Country B Grade Player of the Carnival: Steve Jolly from Northern Districts 22 wins from 27 frames.

The Presidents encouragement award goes to: Sean Field from the City 8 Ball Team who shoot 81.81% 8 wins from 11 frames. Bad luck there old mate, over 66.7% means you have to play A grade CvC or have a year off next year.

 

 

 

 

Congrats to the 2009 City Country C Grade Champions: Sunshine Coast 8 v City 8 Ball 7

The Sunshine Coast Team finished second after the round robin and had to play a strong Gold Coast C grade team in the semi finals. The grand finals was a match up between the old and the new. City 8 Ball were the champs 4 times out of the last 5 years. Well done to all the players from the Sunny Coast. (Dale Mills, Wayne Hextall, Brett Parker, Ira Areora, David James, Stew Holder and Chris Bennet.)

Congrats to the 2009 City Country C Grade Player of the Carnival: Barry Anderson of City 8 Ball 20wins from 22 frames.

The Presidents encouragement award goes to: Wayne Hextall from the Sunny Coast City Team who shoot 70% 14 wins from 20 frames.

Well going by the feedback from the associations, they almost all welcome the 45 seconds time call.

State Teams Play-off

Open Teams:  9 spots up for grabs: #1 State Singles Champ #2 to #9 from the last 32 play-off

Womens Teams: 7 spots up for grabs: #1 State Singles Champ then #2 to #7 from the last 28 play-off

Masters 3 person Teams: #1 State masters Champ then #2 and #3 from the last 8 play-off

The sample play-off ratio is 4: 2: 2 , SEQ: CQ: NQ (SEQ 1200 = 4 CQ 400 = 2: NQ 400 = 2:  for the singles, and 16: 8: 8 for the 32 play-off)

The Acacia Ridge Hotel, Motel, Function and Conference Centre offers accommodation, function and conference rooms, full hotel facilities including a gaming room and restaurant, and a comprehensively stocked bottle shop and drive through.
