On the queens birthday weekend, in June this year (2005), the Q.E.B.F. held their Major event Country v City Championships.

There were 36 teams taking part in the event. Pool players came from as far away as Mackay and Rockhampton to the North and Toowoomba and Darling Downs to the west, along with Brisbane’s three associations, Ipswitch, Gympie and the Gold Coast.

The Championships are run over three days and it has 180 players involved in the tournament.

The Gold Coast Eight Ball Association hosted the event on behalf of the Q.E.B.F. and we extend our many thanks to the hard work put in by their members and committee.

 This year the event was held at the Surfers Paradise Sports Club Inc at 70 Remembrance Drive, Surfers Paradise, QLD, 4217. Thanks to the management and staff for their support throughout the tournament.

I would` like to thank the players and their opponents for the time and effort put into such an event, also the conduct and sportsmanship throughout the Carnival was just great.

Due to the increased associations affiliated in the South East Zone, all zone are encouraged to maintain their own zone City v Country championships from 2006.
